The duo recently merged after Lap Child founder Jori Sams sat down with Sergio Sands to write a song for sheer pleasure. The two couldn’t believe the ease of collaborating and the quality of the song that resulted, as if they’d been writing together for years. What grew out of that first tune was their debut album, Cry of the Whale, combining the depth of ’70s rock with soul-pounding lyrics.
